I am a Procurement Manager with Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd. Commencing in June 2011, Ms. Bai Jie worked as a trainee in my department. Ms. Bai has been an outstanding member of my team, and I am very pleased with this opportunity to recommend her to your university.
Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd., a Subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: KMG), started operations in China in 1994. The company now has a staff of nearly a hundred. In the spring of 2011, we recruited some trainees, who went through a strict application process. Ms. Bai stood out among approximately one hundred applicants, and she was employed as the only trainee in my department.
Ms. Bai’s performance in the pressure interview impressed me. Her eloquent articulation and acute observation distinguished her from the other candidates. Of the applicants that I interviewed, she was the best prepared and most down-to-earth individual, as well as the one that had the best understanding of the work.
Throughout the time that Ms. Bai reported to me at the company, she demonstrated exceptional ability. At first, she was responsible for document classification. In a short time, she adapted herself to the working environment and procedures, and became sufficiently competent for more challenging tasks.
When sorting contracts, she compared contracts with the purchasing procedures she learned in college, formulated the norms for classifying contract documents, and designed an efficient database search methodology. The methodology she developed helps the purchasing manager to find a specific contract and to compare it with similar ones in the shortest time possible. Her norms have been adopted throughout my department. In the final month of her internship, she had become sufficiently skilled to assist the manager in purchasing and negotiations.
During her internship, Ms. Bai demonstrated very good time management abilities. Her work consisted of separate components, and it required a strict deadlines. To make keep items on track, she classified tasks into different levels of importance and set deadline reminders. As a result, she always completed her tasks ahead of time. In her spare time, or during break time at noon, she often asked her colleagues about work-related matters and showed initiative in helping others.
My experience with Ms. Bai has shown me her strong interest in logistics. At times, I have been surprised by the depth of her understanding of the industry. I recall attending short-term training at the University of Michigan, and was astonished to notice that certain of the American ideas I had learned there where echoed in some of Ms. Bai’s discussion points.
I confidently and sincerely recommend this excellent candidate for your consideration. While working in my team, she has consistently demonstrated first-rate abilities in learning, articulation and practical application. I genuinely hope that, with systematic study and research in the United States, Ms. Bai will ascend to a leading role in the logistics industry.
